coclogoThe annual College of the Canyons Women’s Conference returns Saturday, March 28 with an exciting lineup of presenters and breakout sessions designed to help attendees achieve their personal and professional goals.

The 2015 College of the Canyons Women’s Conference “Blossom and Bloom: Cultivating Your Personal Growth,” will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, located on the college’s Valencia campus (University Center Drive entrance).

“The focus of this year’s event is reaching out to multiple generations of women. We have sessions for middle and high school girls, college and professional women as well as mature adults,” said Dr. Diane Fiero, Assistant Superintendent/Vice President, Human Resources at the college. “We hope to see women bringing family members and friends and enjoying a wonderful day of information, inspiration and motivation.”

Acknowledging topics that lead to professional success and personal satisfaction, this year’s Women’s Conference focuses on the following key information strands:

* The Generations — social Media for young women; hands-on robotics; managing relationships; planning for financial success; and the ‘sandwich generation.’

* Cultivating Your Life Passions — cultivating your passions, values and creativity; health at all ages; healing from loss; and work/life balance.

* Career & Personal Branding —insights and advice from a panel of professionals from Boston Scientific; insights and advice from a panel of women business owners; career interest assessment; presentation on using Linked In for professional success.

Also included among the event’s scheduled activities are a buffet breakfast, ‘ladies tea’ themed luncheon and shopping boutique.

The keynote speaker for this year’s Women’s Conference is Ms. Lisa Welker-Finney, Vice President of Human Resources at Boston Scientific Neuromodulation (BSN).

A leader in medical device manufacturing and sales, during her time with BSN, Welker-Finney has acted as overseer of the company’s neuromodulation division in some of the fastest growing markets in the United States, Canada and Latin America.

Prior to her role with BSN, Welker-Finney participated in talent management and organization development for WellPoint/Anthem Blue Cross, serving in a variety of roles related to site leadership, global leadership and development. She was also responsible for talent planning and succession for the top 900 employees within WellPoint/Anthem Blue Cross.

Welker-Finney holds both a B.S. and an M.S. from California State University, Northridge and is a part-time faculty member at that institution. Already a well-known speaker, she is currently writing a new book on the topic of leadership.

“We are very excited to have Ms. Welker-Finney as our keynote speaker,” said Fiero. “She is a very motivational speaker and Boston Scientific has been an amazing sponsor of the Women’s Conference for several years.”
