The editors of College of the Canyons’ award-winning literary and arts magazine “cul-de-sac” invite the community to celebrate the publication’s 11th annual volume with a night of poetry, prose, photography and art at COC’s Valencia campus on Friday, May 25, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Admission and parking are free for the celebration, set for Pico Canyon Hall Room 101.
Nearly 30 students will read their published poetry and short stories and discuss their artwork and photography at the event.
Three students will also receive the Dr. Michael McMahan Award for Excellence in Writing and the Arts.
Volume 11 and past volumes of “cul-de-sac” will be available for a suggested $5 donation.
Produced by the class of English 122, Literary & Arts Magazine Production, and supervised by faculty advisor Alene Terzian-Zeitounian, “cul-de-sac” spotlights the diverse creative work of dozens of COC students every year.
“cul-de-sac” Volume 10 in 2017 also featured five works from COC students incarcerated at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic.
A two-time winner of the nationwide Community College Humanities Association Literary Magazine Competition, Pacific-Western Division, “cul-de-sac” has celebrated the voices of COC writers and artists for more than a decade.
COC’s Valencia campus is located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia 91355.
