[KHTS] – Hundreds of students flocked to College of the Canyons Saturday morning as they were given the opportunity to talk with media professionals at College of the Canyons.
College of the Canyons media department teamed up with West Ranch High School to offer high school and college students the chance to meet with professionals from the film, game design, animation, public relations and broadcast journalism fields.
“We had over 350 students show to his year’s event which was our largest ever,” said Dave Brill, Media Entertainment Department chair. “I have heard nothing but great feedback from folks on both sides of the day.”

Some of the guests included members of the KABC-7 news anchors Phillip Palmer, Leanne Suter, entertainment reporter George Pennacchio and the KABC-7 news van with Frank Alli.
Others in attendance included Carlos Solis who has worked as a sound mixer for over 20 years with studios such as Warner Brothers, Fox, Sony, HBO, DreamWorks and Disney, Elaine Ruiz, who has worked at companies such as KTLA 5 and is now in charge of community outreach for weSPARK Cancer Support Center, and Bill Hutton, an animation director who has been recognized for his work in Iron Man, Superman, Bugs Bunny and more.
“I was extremely pleased with Media Day. It confirmed my belief that when you bring industry professionals and curious students together, the connection is amazing,” said Brill “Hopefully someday someone who was at yesterday’s event will look back and talk about media day 2015 at COC was a life changing morning.”
