SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Just over two months until opening day, The Master’s College men’s soccer team has rolled out its 2015 schedule.
Celebrating his silver anniversary as head coach of the Mustangs, Jim Rickard (282-178-42) leads his 25th squad into a 17-match regular season that features two road tournaments and seven games on the friendly turf of Reese Field. In addition, the Mustangs will also host an exhibition and a pair of scrimmages.
“We are excited for the season and our schedule,” commented Rickard. “Our set of matches before our conference schedule will be a great test to prepare us for a tough conference slate. The GSAC will be tough as always with some added pressure with travel to Menlo and William Jessup.”
For the third season in a row, the Mustangs will open at the Westminster Kickoff Classic in Salt Lake City, Utah, where they’ll debut against Carroll (MT) on August 20 and the University of Great Falls (MT) a day later.
Returning to Southern California, the club will scrimmage COC on August 28 before playing its home opener three days later against Roosevelt of Illinois. Later that week, the Mustangs will travel to Prescott, Arizona, for a tournament at Embry-Riddle University, tangling with the hosts on September 4 and then taking on MidAmerica Nazarene (KS), the NAIA’s 13th-ranked squad in last season’s postseason 25 Top poll, the next afternoon.
Following a home exhibition against St. Katherine (September 10) and a non-conference match against Bethesda (September 15) at Reese Field, the Mustangs will take on former GSAC member, Concordia, in Irvine on September 19.
TMC will open a 10-match GSAC schedule on September 23 when it takes on the 10th-ranked Lions of Vanguard University in Costa Mesa. Notably, the Mustangs are slated to play the Lions and the William Jessup Warriors twice.
Finally, the club closes out the regular season on October 31 at defending regular-season champion Hope International before the GSAC Tournament kicks off on November 6.
