Monday, Oct. 24, is the last day to register to vote in the upcoming local and municipal consolidated elections scheduled for Nov. 8.

Contested races in the SCV include William S. Hart Union High School District, where there are three candidates for two at-large seats; College of the Canyons board, where two candidates are running for each of two seats; and the Saugus and Sulphur Springs school districts, where three candidates are running.

Individuals who wish to register must be at least 18 years of age by election day, a U.S. citizen and resident of Los Angeles County and not in prison or on parole for conviction of a felony.

If you are an active registered voter you do not need to re-register.  However, voters should re-register to vote if they have recently moved, made a legal name change, or wish to change political party affiliation.

Voter registration forms are also available by calling the Voter Registration Request Line – (800) 481-VOTE (8683) or at over 1,240 locations across the County – including Department of Motor Vehicles offices, libraries, fire stations, post offices, public assistance offices (DPSS, WIC), and City Clerks offices.

Voter Registration forms must be submitted to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk by the Oct. 24 deadline.  Postmarked forms will be accepted.

The Registrar-Recorder’s office will be open until Midnight on Monday, October 24 to receive Voter Registration forms.   Registrar-Recorder’s office staff will be available through 8 p.m. to answer questions.

About The Election: The November 8, Local and Municipal Consolidated Elections are being held for the purpose of filling vacancies and for presenting measures which affect municipal and local jurisdictions in Los Angeles County.

Contests to appear on the ballot in various parts of the county include 19 cities, 42 school districts (of which 28 are unified), four high school districts, six community college districts, five water districts, five county water districts, eight city measures and three school district measures. The number of offices to be elected is 195.
