SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – At the outset of the 2014 track season, Zach Schroeder, eighth-year head coach of The Master’s College cross country and track programs, is already looking to the future, made evident by the recent signing of high school senior Winston Provost of Rockton, Ill.

Provost enters The Master’s College with an impressive resume that includes cross country and track captain honors, named to the sectional team two years in a row, awarded “Best Newcomer” and “Senior of the Year,” and a recipient of Honorable Mention at the NIC-10 conference meet. Off the course, Provost served as the junior and & senior class president and was a leader of Grace on Campus at Hononegah Community High School.

“I know that The Master’s College is the best place I could go to grow more in Christ and become a better Christ-follower,” commented Provost. “I wanted to train, compete, and be apart of a team whose greatest goal is to glorify Christ. TMC has one of the best distance programs in the nation at the NAIA level and I wanted to be apart of that. I am really looking forward to being a part of a team which are truly unified by Christ. The spiritual growth and encouragement will be the best part of it.”

Even before donning the Navy Blue and Vegas Gold, Provost has his eyes set on lofty, but reachable, goals.

“I want to make great improvement not only in my running but in my spiritual life over the next four years. As I am an Albanian/American citizen, I would like to compete at the national level, and eventually compete as an Albanian athlete in the Olympics.”

The Mustangs manufactured strong marks in 2013, by bagging a fourth consecutive GSAC title while producing four All-GSAC cross country athletes along the way:Matthew Crichton, John Hurd, Joshua Sherfey, and Tyler Tockstein.

Looking to another fruitful 2014-15 season, the Mustangs will be only graduating one senior and returning seven seasoned veterans.
