A masked man was caught Saturday morning after he allegedly used a gun to rob the Bank of America branch in Newhall.
“A male black adult walked in with a stocking over his head and a small handgun,” said Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The suspect is being booked on an armed robbery charge for allegedly robbing the Bank of America on the corner of Valley Street and Lyons Avenue at 10:40 a.m., Bryski said.
No one was hurt during the incident, Bryski said.
“And he took a small unknown amount of cash from the bank and he fled in a red (Toyota) Camry,” Bryski said.
The suspect was spotted heading northbound on Highway 14 and pulled over by deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station in the Camry he allegedly was seen driving.
He was stopped near the Sand Canyon Road exit of Highway 14.
“We thought he might have changed cars,” he said.
The man is believed to have acted alone, Bryski said, and no other suspects are being sought for the crime at this time.
The suspect was in custody by 11 a.m., Bryski said.
