A look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week.
On Thursday the 13th at approximately 10:30 p.m., a 2006 Pontiac “G6” was stolen from the downtown area near 8th Street and Main Street. The vehicle was recovered by LAPD Mission the next day.
On Thursday the 13th at approximately 6:30 p.m., a “Razor” scooter was taken from in front of an apartment in the 25000 block of Walnut Street. The 11 year old victim had left it unattended while he was inside the apartment.
A residential burglary occurred in the 22800 block of Market Street on Thursday the 13th between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00p.m. The suspect shattered a rear sliding glass door and took a floor safe. The suspect left the location in the victim’s 2002 Lexus, which was recovered in the 23200 block of Market Street with the engine still running.
This crime occurred during daylight hours. The suspect possibly used the stolen vehicle to transport stolen property and then parked the vehicle at the end of Market Street. After parking the vehicle, the suspect would have likely been seen unloading objects from the stolen vehicle. Between Sunday the 9th at 10:30 p.m., and Monday the 10th at 11:00 a.m., a catalytic converter was stolen from a 1998 Honda Accord, parked on Dockweiler Drive near Ivy Lane.
On Wednesday the 12th at 10:00 p.m., a house party in the 23700 block of Valle Del Oro resulted in a fight among the party attendees. Two men involved in the fight had to be transported to the hospital for treatment. Alcohol was a factor.
If you host a party in your residence, be aware you could be held responsible for your guests. If your party becomes a nuisance to your neighborhood, you could be subject to fines and criminal abatement. If people are injured or there is property damage, you could also be held responsible.
A known “Newhall 13” gang member was arrested on Wednesday the 12th, on Pine Street for a felony assault charge involving a knife.
Remember to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave valuables in plain view, be aware of your surroundings, and report suspicious behavior.
