Santa Clarita is a very active community. Many residents hike and ride bicycles on the trails throughout the outlying areas surrounding the city. If you choose to hike or bike alone, take a few minutes to prepare for the trip and consider some possible life saving tips. Inform others of your plans and route. Bring food and plenty of water. Wear layers of clothing. Carry a cell phone with GPS or a beacon so you can be found even if you are not able to help in your rescue.
Remember to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave valuables in plain view, be aware of your surroundings, and report suspicious behavior.
