A Newhall man was arrested on charges of DUI, hit and run and driving without a license after a traffic collision on Saturday, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials reported.
Here’s more of the story from the station’s social media:
“On Saturday afternoon, deputies responded to Newhall Avenue and 14th Street regarding a hit and run traffic collision.
“They were able to track down the suspect fairly easy because the license plate of his vehicle came off and was left at the scene.
“When they went to the address on record, they found a vehicle with visible body damage that was missing a plate. The plate that was still intact on the vehicle matched the one that was found.
“A male adult was observed slumped over in the vehicle with the engine still running. Deputies stirred the driver and immediately noticed the strong smell of alcohol.
“The 23-year-old blew a 0.14 B.A.C. when administered a preliminary alcohol screening test.
“Deputies arrested the Newhall man on charges of DUI, hit and run, and driving without a license.
“The suspect was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, where he is being held on $17,500 bail.”
