The Lady Cougars softball program is heading back to the postseason for a seventh straight season.
No. 5 seed Canyons (23-17, 10-4) will travel to face No. 5 Fullerton College in a best-of-three series. Game one begins at 2 p.m. Friday, May 3. The action continues with game two at noon on Saturday. If necessary, a third game will be played later that same day.
COC finished the regular season as runner-up in the Western State Conference (WSC), East Division after winning the conference a season ago.
The Lady Cougars batted .336 as a team to rank second in the WSC. That mark helped translate to a conference-leading 271 runs scored. COC’s 227 RBIs ranked second in the conference.
Fullerton (33-6, 17-4) was runner-up in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC). The Hornets ranked ninth in the state with a .353 team batting average and were tied for 11th in the CCCAA with 269 runs scored, two spots back of COC.
The Hornets were ranked No. 9 in the state according to the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA) final regular season poll released on April 26.
Entry to CCCAA playoff contests is $12 for general admission and $8 for students and staff with ID, senior citizens and children under 12 years old.
