The November meeting of the California Water Commission will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19 in Southern California and will include the fifth State Water Project briefing of 2025.
Department of Water Resources staff will provide an update on current construction projects and modernization programs within the State Water Project.
The meeting will conclude with a public tour of Pyramid Lake and Castaic Lake, two State Water Project reservoirs.
Pyramid and Castaic lakes serve several purposes. These reservoirs provide water supply to the surrounding area, water storage during emergencies, flood protection, recreational opportunities and help regulate water flows for hydropower generation. Both lakes are located 40-50 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles on Interstate 5.
Also on the November meeting agenda, the commission will consider a proposed change to the Water Storage Investment Program regulations regarding uncommitted funding.
The meeting and tour are open to the public. The non-tour portion will be live-streamed online.
