Confused about the latest water restrictions? Worried about how the ongoing drought will continue to affect the community? If you’re thirsting for knowledge, you can get answers to all of your water-related questions at the Valley Industry Association’s Oct. 21 luncheon featuring the SCV Family of Water Suppliers.
“This drought is having a significant impact on every individual and business in California, and the state faces long-term water infrastructure issues, too,” VIA President and CEO Kathy Norris said. “Our local water leaders do a tremendous job of getting our community through situations like this one, and they’ll be joining us to take some of the mystery out of the problems and the potential solutions.”
The luncheon starts at 11:45 a.m. October 21 at the Valencia Country Club.
Titled, “The SCV’S Water Supply,” the presentation will address the mandatory conservation measures required by the State Water Resources Control Board, the upcoming statewide water bond and the Bay Delta Conservation Plan. Presenters will include: Dan Masnada, General Manager of the Castaic Lake Water Agency; Steve Cole, General Manager of the Newhall County Water District; Mauricio Guardado, Retail Manager of the Santa Clarita Water Division; and Keith Abercrombie, General Manager of the Valencia Water Co.
“In addition to a wealth of water information, we’ll have several other exciting things happening at the October luncheon,” Norris said. “Representatives from the Valley Performing Arts Center will provide us an update on their 2014-15 season, and we’ll collect non-perishable food items to help needy families in our community.”
VIA will collect non-perishable food donations at its October, November and December luncheons to help local nonprofit organizations that supply food to needy families. To thank those who contribute, VIA will enter each donor’s name into a special drawing to be made at the Dec. 16 luncheon.
Reservations are required for the luncheon. Members who reserve by Thursday, Oct. 16, pay $45. After Oct. 16, the cost is $50 if seats are still available. The cost for non-members is $65. “No shows” or cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will be billed. There is a $10 surcharge for attendees without a reservation. The Valencia Country Club is located at 27330 N. Tourney Road. The luncheon is sponsored by the City of Santa Clarita, Poole and Shaffery, Mellady Direct Marketing, SCVTV, KHTS AM-1220 and The Signal. Reservations can be made by visiting www.VIA.org/Calendar or calling the VIA office at (661) 294-8088.

Why is it that Santa Clarita Valley will not allow me to make my entire yard with fake grass. It’s got to be 50 50
I thought we were in a drought
Well there are some politicians in Sacramento who say we’re in a drought and refuse to fire up the pumps on the State Water Project that we paid for with our tax dollars until after the November election when they want us to vote “yes” on a water bond …. if that’s what you mean
Yes. Thank you. :)
