Providing students an opportunity to ‘test drive’ the career or job industry of their choice, College of the Canyons will host its sixth annual College2Career Day this weekend at the Valencia campus.
Featuring a variety of hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations, the event will also provide both students and parents with valuable information about how the college can help them to get on the path to career success.
“The day is designed to help students make a connection between their education and a future career path,” said Patrick Backes, curriculum and articulation coordinator at the college. “Attendees will have an opportunity to explore various academic and career choices while connecting with college instructors and talking with industry professionals who will be able to share what it’s really like in a given career field.”
The COC College2Career Day event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, located on the college’s Valencia campus (University Center Drive entrance).
Throughout the day COC faculty members and representatives from the college’s various academic and career technical education (CTE) programs and other industry professionals, will be on hand to answer questions and help students explore the diverse types of careers that a college education can help prepare them for.
Information about the college’s current lineup of classes and programs will also be available.
In addition, a representative from the University Center will also be on hand to discuss the multitude of bachelor’s, master’s and professional credential programs currently being offered by the college’s partner institutions.
