[Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers Inc.] – Valencia Water Co.’s Beverly Johnson, assisted by fellow employees Joe and Jon, distributed 60 turkeys on Tuesday to Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers’ Val Verde Health Center.
Samuel Dixon Treasurer P.K. Reibsamen along with executive director Cheryl Laymon joined Operation Gobble representatives in handing out the turkeys. Health Center Supervisor Nora Rodriguez said she traditionally puts a list together of 60 families to receive the turkeys. This year Nora said so many people asked to be on the list, that she developed a waiting list of several more families in case any of the original 60 did not show up.
For 21 years, since Operation Gobble began, community volunteer Beverly Ramirez has come to the health center to assist in the distribution. This year, the Samuel Dixon Center was able to make available several different health products such as sun screen, cough syrup and band aid packs for the families to take home along with their turkeys.
Beverly said they are always glad to come to Val Verde knowing that Operation Gobble is contributing to 60 families having a happy Thanksgiving and that the Valencia Water Company has had a positive impact in the community.
