[News Release] – The Repertory East Playhouse is proud to announce that it will continue Season TEN with Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize winning American classic, Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, sponsored by Mission View Public Schools.

photo 2After Brick Pollitt injures himself while drunkenly revisiting his high school sports-star days, he and his tempestuous wife, Maggie, visit his family’s Mississippi plantation for the 65th birthday of his hot-tempered father, Big Daddy. Cantankerous even with declining health, Big Daddy demands to know why Brick and Maggie haven’t yet given him a grandchild, unlike Brick’s brother Gooper and his fecund wife, Mae.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof first heated up Broadway in 1955 with its gothic American story of brothers vying for their dying father’s inheritance amid a whirlwind of sexuality, untethered in the character of Maggie. The play also daringly showcased the burden of sexuality repressed in the agony of her husband, Brick. In spite of the public controversy Cat was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the Drama Critics Circle Award for that year.

Celebrate Opening Night on Friday May 16, 2014 with a complimentary wine reception sponsored by Engelmann Cellars. Join The REP on the red carpet as we celebrate TEN Years of live professional theatre.

Cat On a Hot Tin Roof will run May 16 through June 14, 2014. Show times are Friday and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. This show will SELL OUT!
