LANCASTER – The JetHawks came back from an early five-run deficit to knock off the Lake Elsinore Storm 10-9 in front of a sold-out crowd on Tuesday night at The Hangar.
Lancaster fell behind 4-0 before they even came to the plate, as the Storm put up four runs in the top of the first. Austin Allen provided the big blow in the frame with a three-run homer. Allen had three hits and four RBI in the contest.
The JetHawks got a run back in the bottom of the first. Garrett Hampson singled, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Yonathan Daza’s RBI single. Lake Elsinore made it 6-1 when they added two more runs in the second inning.
The JetHawks would eventually tie the game and take their first lead in the fifth inning. They were up 8-7 heading to the sixth, but Lake Elsinore picked up a run to knot things up, 8-8. The Storm took a 9-8 lead to the bottom of the seventh before the JetHawks scored twice to surge back in front for good. Wes Rogers delivered an RBI double and Mylz Jones followed with an RBI single.
Rogers and Jones each finished with three hits. Rogers was a home run shy of the cycle, stole two bases, and scored three runs. Jones picked up a pair of doubles and swiped home on a double steal. Yonathan Daza, Roberto Ramos, and Wilson Soriano had two hits apiece for Lancaster.
Helmis Rodriguez (2-2) earned the win in relief for the JetHawks. The left-hander, who was just moved back to the bullpen, allowed one earned run over three innings of work. J.D. Hammer picked up his fourth save with a scoreless ninth inning. Starter Brandon Gold took a no-decision in his JetHawks debut. The right-hander went five innings and allowed seven runs on 11 hits.
The announced crowd at The Hangar was 5,459, the second sell out of the season.

The three-game series continues tonight at The Hangar. Left-hander Ty Culbreth (0-0) will start for Lancaster in his JetHawks debut against right-hander Jesse Scholtens (3-3). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
