[KHTS] – The Valencia and Hart football teams will meet in a rematch for the CIF Southern Section Northern Division championship.
Both teams won their semifinal games handily.
The Vikings eliminated Saugus, 45-8, but one of Valencia’s star players was ejected from the game and will not be able to play in the championship game against Hart.
Valencia’s Jay Jay Wilson was ejected after hitting Saugus receiver Timmy Kahovec in the end zone and celebrating excessively after the hit.
Hart knocked out West Torrance, 42-7, in the other semifinal game. Indians running back Connor Wingenroth had another big game, scoring five touchdowns. He rushed for 156 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught a touchdown pass and had 47 yards receiving.
Hart is making its first appearance in the Northern Division championship since 2007. The Indians lost to St. Bonaventure that year.
Hart and Valencia are playing in the championship game for the third time. Hart won the previous two games. But the Vikings beat Hart, 24-19, on Nov. 11.
The Northern Division championship game will be at Valencia High School on Friday night.
The Trinity Classical Academy football team won the CIF Southern Section Division 2 8-man championship, 47-0, over Joshua Springs.
Trinity scored all 47 points in the second half. Spencer Klehn scored four touchdowns including an interception return in the fourth quarter.
Trinity won its first CIF football championship.
In cross country, the Saugus boys won the CIF State Division 2 championship, while the Saugus girls finished in the second place at the state meet in Fresno.
The boys won their first CIF state championship in school history. They beat Westlake, 110-139. Brian Zabilski was the top finisher for Saugus in fourth place.
The Saugus girls, winners of seven CIF state championships in a row, lost to Simi Valley, 97-102. Samantha Ortega was the top finisher for Saugus in third place.
In the NBA, the Clippers lost to the Indiana Pacers, 105-100. The Pacers improved to 16-1. The Clippers had their four-game winning streak snapped.
The Lakers lost to the Portland Trail Blazers, 114-108. The Lakers are 5-2 in their past seven games.
In the NHL, the St. Louis Blues take on the Kings at Staples Center tonight. The Kings are coming off a 2-1 loss to the Calgary Flames on Saturday night.

I can’t believe the Hart vs. Valencia game is going to be at Valencia… this game is expecting to be highly attended (not just by both schools, but people from other Foothill League schools as well). VHS has a small stadium with limited parking. Hopefully, there is consideration to move it to COC that can accommodate the large number of people anticipated to attend the game and the cars that bring them there. If it is at Valencia, good luck to everyone finding parking (unless they’re going to run a shuttle service) and a place to sit!
