The West Ranch and Valencia baseball teams are in the Championship Division of the Easton Tournament.
West Ranch plays Loyola and Valencia takes on Chaminade later on today.
The Wildcats won their first two games of the tournament against Rio Mesa and Chatsworth.
The Vikings beat Kennedy of Granada Hills and Crespi in the first two games of the tournament.
The Saugus and Hart baseball teams are in the Stealth Division of the Easton Tournament. Hart plays St. Francis and Saugus takes on St. Bonaventure.
In track and field, the Canyon boys and girls won their first meets of the season. The Canyon boys beat Crescenta Valley, 86-50, and the girls won, 96-40.
In college baseball, the College of the Canyons beat Orange Coast College, 4-1. Kevin Lenik hit a two-run home run for COC. Cory Jones struck out 10 in eight innings and gave up only two hits in his third win of the season.
In NASCAR, Matt Kenseth won the Daytona 500, which turned into the 36 hours of Daytona by the time the checkered flag dropped.
A race that was supposed to start on Sunday afternoon finally ended in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Kenseth won his second Daytona 500 in a green-white-checkered flag finish over Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Greg Biffle.
In hockey, Dustin Brown scored his fourth goal in the past two games, but the Kings lost to the Nashville Predators, 2-1.
It was the fifth loss in the past six games for the Kings.
They’re back on the ice again tonight in Minnesota against the Wild.
