The Valencia football team wasn’t intimidated with Hart’s No. 1 ranking in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division poll. The Vikings rolled up their sleeves and took care of business, beating Hart, 31-20, in a game heard live on AM 1220 KHTS. Stone Jackson scored three touchdowns for Valencia and helped the Vikings snap Hart’s seven-game winning streak. Valencia, ranked No. 3 in the Northern Division, can secure its fourth Foothill League championship in a row against winless Golden Valley on Friday.

In the SCVTV Game of the Week, Canyon beat West Ranch, 41-34, and is tied for second place with Hart in the Foothill League standings. Both teams are 3-1 in league. Canyon receiver Drew Wolitarsky caught three touchdown passes against West Ranch and has 49 in his career. He is No. 2 in touchdown receptions in the state. Wolitarsky caught eight passes for 124 yards. Mark Collins rushed for 168 yards and scored two touchdowns for West Ranch. Quarterback Cade Apsay threw four touchdown passes and ran in a touchdown for Canyon, ranked No. 8 in the Northern Division.

The Saugus football team won its first Foothill League game of the season, 48-6, against Golden Valley. Saugus running back Ried Rupe rushed for 64 yards and scored two touchdowns.

The Trinity football  team beat Lancaster Baptist, 54-14, and won the Heritage League championship with a perfect 3-0 record. The Knights scored 30 points in the first quarter and were up 54-0 at halftime. Dakota Prochnow scored four touchdowns for Trinity. The Santa Clarita Christian football team kept its slim playoff hopes alive with a 35-12 win over Fairmont. Cardinals running back Derek Lewis rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns.

In college football, College of the Canyons beat Moorpark College, 21-20, blocking an extra-point attempt in the fourth quarter to win the game. Shane Drozdowski caught the winning touchdown for COC, a 37-yard pass from quarterback Ryan Kasdorf, to give the Cougars a 21-14 lead. Moorpark scored on a quarterback sneak to cut the COC lead to one point with six seconds left to play in the game. But COC blocked the extra-point attempt and won the game.
