The city of Santa Clarita enjoyed an increase in on-location filming in Fiscal Year 2017-2018 (July 2017 to June 2018), with the Film Office recording 560 film permits and 1377 film days, generating an estimated $33.1 million in economic impact to the local community.
This represents a 2.8 percent increase in permits, an 8.9 percent increase in film days and a 9.8 percent increase to the estimated economic impact when compared to Fiscal Year 2016-2017.
It’s the fifth consecutive fiscal year the Santa Clarita Film Office has recorded more than 500 permits and $30 million or more in estimated economic impact generated from location filming alone.
These stats don’t include the film days and economic benefit from filming on certified sound stages, which does not require a film permit.
Santa Clarita’s numerous sound stages, movie ranches, thousands of film-friendly locations, its one-stop shop Film Office, low-cost film permits and ideal location within the industry’s 30-Mile Zone have made the city one of the most filmed areas in California.

So happy SCD got picked up for another season. Such a funny show and I love all the local references it has.
Charles is working on swat right! Jason Castaneda
Yea he is
Pat Scott Dudewicz, we could have gone star gazing ?. And Joyce A Lennon, some more tidbits about my town.
Wow, two of my favorite shows, NCIS and SWAT. Do you get to see any of those handsome actors running around town?
Joyce–the population of Santa Clarita is around 200,000, and growing rapidly…not so sure we could spot anyone in that crowd!
Pat I didn’t realize it was such a big city! Unless they posted neon signs saying “here I am”, you’d never see anyone.
Joyce A Lennon it’s funny, I met Mark Harmon & others from NCIS, but it was down at my old work – I’ll have to find the photo. Hubby has signatures and pics from Dukes of Hazzard, CHiPs, etc., old school times.
Carolyn love Mark Harmon!
Joyce-as do I!!
Joyce A Lennon–not far out of town is a county(?) park of massive rocks and formations. This has been used in several films, but most notably in Star Trek (original tv series). Don’t remember the title.
Pat I must have seen it because I saw every episode of Star Trek.
Joyce-when the kids were young, every summer evening, after Family Time at the pool, we watched reruns of Star Trek. Ed actually made a chart of episode/date we watched it/who watched it. I couldn’t make the cut most of the time as I was preparing dinner!! Later in years, we had the VHS tapes of the whole season; it wore out and was replaced. Then the DVD’s, which he and I watched ALL the time!!!!!

Pat hello Trekkie. Loved that show too!
Joyce- it did-get to the point “Could we watch something else for a day?”!!!
Jascha Dlugatch, you on this?
Maureen Garcia not currently.
U can film at my house ….
Where’s all the money from that going? Who’s keeping an eye?
Santa Clarita Diet is always filming at Bridgeport!
