[KHTS] Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are investigating a suspected hit-and-run crash early Monday that left a man seriously injured.
A car crashed into a block wall, near the intersection of Decoro Drive and Vista Del Gado, in Saugus, shortly after midnight Monday, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.
A search this morning for the driver led officials to call a Sheriff’s Department helicopter unit, which was searching the Saugus area near the wash around 10 a.m. Monday morning.
“Apparently, (the driver) left his vehicle headed to the wash,” said Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
A passneger remained in the car and received medical attention for serious injuries, he added. The patient was reportedly transferred to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash. The identities of both the passenger and the driver were not released by Sheriff’s Station officials.
Fire officials confirmed a call around 12:15 a.m. at the intersection of Decoro Drive and Copperhill Drive, but the driver was gone by the time paramedics arrived, according to officials.
The driver is wanted for questions in connection with the crash, and to make sure he’s OK, Bryski said.
