Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 06, 2015 – The Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s soccer team beat the Arizona Strikers, 2-1, and won their third game in a row.
Arizona took a 1-0 lead in the second half. The Blue Heat tied the score on a goal by Melissa Fernandez in the 70th minute.
Kassi Massey scored the game-winner in the 82nd minute.
The Blue Heat shut out Arizona, 7-0, on Friday. They are 4-5. The Blue Heat’s next game is against the Colorado Rush on Thursday.
The United States women’s soccer team won the World Cup-, 5-2, over Japan in Vancouver, Canada.
Carli Lloyd recorded a hat trick, scoring three goals in the first 15 minutes of the game.
It was the third World Cup title for the US women’s national team and its first since 1999.
Dodgers News
In the major leagues, the Dodgers were shut out by the New York Mets, 8-0. The Dodgers only got three hits in the game and dropped two of three games to the Mets over the weekend.
The Phillies are in town to start a series against the Dodgers tonight.
Eric Surkamp starts for the Dodgers against Sean O’Sullivan for the Phillies. First pitch is at 7:10.
