The Saugus girls basketball team had a bittersweet ending to its season.

Megan Dawe set the school record for scoring, but Saugus was eliminated from the CIF Southern Section Division 2A basketball playoffs in a 58-38 loss to Norco.

Dawe needed only four points to break the school record held by Gabby Conn. Dawe scored eight points against Norco to finish with 1,275 points in her high school career.

She also added to her single-season school record with 570 points.

The Canyon girls basketball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Southern Section Division 2AA playoffs with a 57-38 win over Segerstrom.

Tiffini Stone came the rescue with 25 points for Canyon. The Canyon girls play top-seeded Keppel in the quarterfinals of the Division 2AA playoffs on Saturday.

In the CIF girls soccer playoffs, Saugus lost to San Clemente, 1-0 in overtime, in the second round of the Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

Saugus and second-seeded San Clemente played to a scoreless draw in regulation. San Clemente scored the game-winner with a minute to play in the first sudden death overtime period.

The College of the Canyons men’s basketball team lost to L.A. Valley College, 75-61, in the opening round of the California Community College Southern California Regional playoffs.

Ronald Harris recorded a double-double in the loss with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

In hockey, the Kings are officially unraveling. They lost their fourth game in a row, 4-1, to the Colorado Avalanche. Dustin Brown scored the only goal for the Kings and goaltender Jonathan Quick was pulled after giving up three goals in the first period.

The Kings have lost six of their past seven games and are 2-8 in their past 10 games.

The Kings have a couple days off, but it doesn’t get any easier with the Chicago Blackhawks visiting Staples Center on Saturday.
