Saugus High School Principal Bill Bolde was named Secondary Principal of the Year and La Mesa Junior High School Principal Michelle Krantz was given the David G. Millen Mentoring Award at the 30th Annual Association of California School Administrators Region XV Awards Banquet on Wednesday evening in Burbank.

Region XV encompasses all of North Los Angeles County, from Antelope Valley in the north to Simi Valley in the west, as far east as Pomona and south to Montebello.  Over 450 people attended the ceremony held at Castaway Restaurant.

Saugus High School senior Jill Young was honored at the banquet as one of six High School Student Oratory Contest Winners.  Jersey Mike’s of Santa Clarita was given the Partners in Education Award.

A total of six administrators from the Hart School District were honored.  In addition to Bill Bolde and Michelle Krantz, Director of Student Services Kathy Hunter was given the Valuing Diversity Award by Region XV.  Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Dr. Michael Vierra, Placerita Junior High Principal Jan Heyes-Rennels, and Special Education Director Sharon Amrhein were recognized as Charter Award Winners.

A state-wide organization, ACSA is broken into regions across California.  Within each region are charters, with Region XV containing 26 charters.  The Santa Clarita charter is made up of the five school districts in the valley.  An awards committee within the charter nominate worthy administrators and write a two-page statement detailing why the individual deserves a nomination.  Two additional support letters accompany the nomination.  The region board then decides the winners among the 26 nominees.

“The Hart School District has received numerous awards over the past 30 years and these people are the representatives of the dedicated and committed administrators within the district,” said Lorriane King, Region XV Controller.

Bolde and Hunter’s awards will be judged against other region winners at the state level.
