Nissan of Valencia’s Dan Sterkel serves it up.

[KHTS] – Nearly 100 families enjoyed turkey and all the fixings at the ninth annual Thanksgiving Dinner hosted by the Santa Clarita Valley Auto Dealers Association at the Sierra Vista clubhouse of the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley.

“This is what the season is all about, giving back,” said Daniel Sterkel, vice president of the SCV Auto Dealers Association and executive manager of Nissan of Valencia.

Salt Creek Grille Catering provided the dinner which included roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green beans, salad, rolls and dessert.

“We are very grateful to the Auto Dealers Association that they ask us to help sponsor this event,” said Greg Amsler, owner of Salt Creek Grille. “The best part of this event is watching the faces of the children and the families that are here. It is great to be a part of providing a Thanksgiving to people.”

Volunteers from the SCV Auto Dealers Association and board members of the Boys & Girls Club of SCV served up the meals to the families of Boys & Girls club members and guests of Single Mothers Outreach in the gym at the Canyon Country clubhouse.

After they dined the families were each presented with a turkey and a basket of goodies to make a Thanksgiving dinner by Carl Goldman and Jeri Seratti-Goldman of KHTS AM 1220 Hometown Station, Joel and Susan Moss of Paul Davis Emergency Services and Jeff Willis of MIS Sciences Corporation

“If I’m in a position to help the community then I think I should give back,” said Willis.

In previous years donations of turkeys and gift baskets were raffled off during the dinner.

“This year we wanted to make sure that everyone went home with a turkey,” said Jeri Seratti-Goldman.

Jim Ventress, chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Club of SCV, said it was “wonderful how the Auto Dealers Association comes through for the families every year.”

“We have a lot to be thankful for in this community,” said Ventress.

Ventress said the families were surprised and very grateful to take home the turkeys and basket s of food.

“I was sitting with one lady and she kept telling me how very grateful she was for the help,” he said.
