Last weekend’s football in the Santa Clarita Valley brought a season-ending win to College of the Canyons, and four of our five high school playoff contenders had victories. But that fifth game? Could-a, would-a, should-a.
Foothill League Teams
Valencia (9-2, 6-0)
The Valencia Vikings had everything going on Friday, Nov. 7 in the first round of the Division 3 CIF playoffs: nine wins on the season, with a seven-game winning streak, a league championship, an opponent with a lesser record and the game being broadcast on local television.
The Viks even had a 27-7 lead at one point. But second-half turnovers doomed the night, and Valencia lost to 8-3 Palos Verdes 34-42. And thus, the Vikings and many others in the SCV end the 2025 season wondering “What if?”
Even so, Valencia is to be congratulated on a great season.
