Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a local teenaged driver on charges of underage DUI and littering in Saugus on Sunday, according to a post on the station’s Facebook page.
Here’s the story:
We don’t need to lose any more young people in traffic collisions. What started out as a minor litter violation ended up as a DUI arrest.
Sunday around 3:19 a.m., a deputy patrolling parking lots around businesses in Saugus saw a car with fast food wrappers tossed out of the driver’s door. Perhaps some may think that’s petty to cite for, but this is our home and your home, and we’re trying to keep it nice. Trash cans exist for a reason.
It’s a good thing the deputy conducted a traffic stop for the littering because it turned out the 19-year-old male driver was driving under the influence. His blood alcohol level was at .070, under the legal limit, but for underage DUIs, there is ZERO TOLERANCE.
The SCV teen was arrested and transported to the station. It’s a tough lesson to learn, between fines and possible driver’s license suspension but we’re just thankful he is okay, and that he didn’t hurt himself or anyone else while behind the wheel of a car.

WOW HEADLINE NEWS
He should not be drinking (although apparently drunk) or littering but why is this a story?
Whoever wrote this sounds like a hall monitor.
Let’s hope that the kid learned his lesson this time. And, yesMarshall , this should be news.
Why is this news
This just in, dog pees on tree.
This idiot could take your life or a loved one. Not only has it been driving since breakfast, it’s drunk
Thank you for sharing and may the kid pay the consequences
Wouldn’t be surprised, if he learned it from his parents.

I see this kind of littering more and more, hate to see their houses. Good job, LASD!
SAVING LIVES ONE BY ONE
Sad
He is legally an adult , so quit calling him a “teen”
I meant to say he was NOT drunk. Maybe he had a beer, he should not have. He was NOT a drunk driver about to plow down a family. He was a litter bug. Bad.
This is not news and the person who wrote the article sounds like a hall monitor that everyone hates.
Wait a minute. As I read this story again it says the deputy was “patrolling a parking lot and saw wrappers on the ground by the driver door of a car”. So the guy was parked and the trash may or may not have been his?
He was not drunk but was tested anyway? The guy was not even driving. He was parked. Was he homeless and sleeping there?
And Nineteen is a teenager. It even has “teen in it” LOL
19..not really a teen…legal adult.
Good job. Thank You, Sheriffs.
