Coley Apsay (Canyon HS) finished the season ranked in the top 10 in the WSC in four categories, while leading the Cougars in scoring and assists.

College of the Canyons men’s basketball players Coley Apsay and Tullio Parry have been named First Team All-Western State Conference (WSC), South honorees, while COC sophomore forward Ricardo Greaves received Honorable Mention recognition for the 2014-15 season.

All three sophomores were key members of COC head coach Howard Fisher’s squad, with each making significant contributions in the Cougars’ quest for a postseason bid.

“It’s fitting that these three sophomores earned this recognition, because of the progress each has made playing here at COC,” said Fisher.

“Coley, Tullio and Ricardo are all being recruiting to continue their education and play at four-year schools, which is the ultimate goal,” added Fisher. “Hopefully this on-the-court recognition will help aid their efforts to transfer.”

Apsay, a sophomore guard, started all 28 games for the Cougars and finished the season ranked in the top 10 in the WSC in four categories, while leading the Cougars in scoring and assists.

He averaged 17 points per game — good for seventh in the conference — and finished third in the conference in assists per game with 4.4.

Apsay also finished fifth in the conference in three-point field goal percentage, shooting 42.2 percent from beyond the arc. On the defensive end, Apsay averaged 2.3 steals per game, which ranked third in the conference.

COC forward Tullio Parry ranked second in scoring for the Cougars averaging 11.8 points per game in the regular season.

The sophomore forward was also a force on the boards, leading the team in rebounding with 6.6 per game. That total was good enough to rank Parry ninth in the conference in rebounding.

Parry also started all 28 games for Canyons and was a key contributor down the stretch, averaging 14 points in COC’s final six regular season games.

Sophomore forward Ricardo Greaves was awarded Honorable Mention All-WSC designation after averaging 8.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for the Cougars.

Greaves also led Canyons with 39 blocks on the season and shot 50.3 percent from the field. The Jamaican native played in all 28 games, while starting 25.

Canyons finished its regular season with a 15-12 overall record and a 7-7 mark against WSC, South opponents.

The Cougars earned a berth in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional, but were eliminated by L.A. Harbor College in opening round action.
