Three men including one on probation a day after he was released from jail were arrested late Friday afternoon after allegedly firing assault weapons near homes in Saugus.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m., deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Copper Hill Drive and Haskell Canyon Road.
They arrested three men on suspicion of weapons offenses.
Seized in the arrest were two AR-15 assault rifles and one semiautomatic pistol described as a Springfield XD.
No one was hurt in the incident.
“Deputies responded to an open area near Copper Hill and Haskell but in close proximity to houses,” said Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
“All three were taken to the sheriff’s station,” she said.
“One of them was a felon on probation who was just released from Men’s Central Jail yesterday,” Miller said. “All three are facing felony charges.”
