For the first time in program history, The Master’s University men’s basketball team will open the 2018-19 season as the NAIA’s No. 1 team.
The Mustangs received four first-place votes to edge William Penn of Iowa, which received three.
Master’s will open the season at home on Thursday night in an exhibition game against NCAA Division 2 Azusa Pacific University.
Game time is 8 p.m., with $8 general admission. TMU students with ID are admitted free, while students from other institutions, with ID, will be admitted for $3.
The Mustangs won’t play at home again until Nov. 10, when they host Bethesda.
Between now and then, Master’s will travel to play NCAA Division 2 Concordia University Irvine on the road Saturday before traveling to Texas for a high-profile tournament.
The Mustangs will play No. 2 LSU Alexandria on Nov. 1.
Then they’ll play No. 7 LSU Shreveport on Nov. 2.
