The Master’s University volleyball team posted an impressive three-set victory (25-22, 25-23, 25-10) over Vanguard University on Bross Court.
With the win, TMU’s 2016 record improved to 19-9 and 11-2 in Golden State Athletic Conference play. Currently, TMU sits just two matches behind the No. 1 nationally ranked Westmont College Warriors.
“Serving and passing were our great strengths tonight,” commented TMU head coach Allan Vince. “Those two skills allowed us to control the pace of the match and create the scenarios that we scouted and trained for. I was very pleased with our all-around performance tonight against Vanguard as they always have a strong and talented group of athletes.”
TMU’s Kayla Sims, the GSAC’s setter off the week, tallied 31 assists and nine digs against the Lions. Allison Child paced the Lady Mustangs with 11 kills while Aubrey Pyburn claimed 10.
As a team, TMU earned 43 kills, 42 assists, 41 digs, a .340 attack percentage and 2.0 total team blocks.
On Saturday, the Lady Mustangs will travel to La Mirada for a crucial match against No. 19 Biola University (19-9, 10-3 GSAC) at 7:00 p.m. Back on September 20, TMU beat the 13th-ranked Eagles in five sets (25-20, 19-25, 23-25, 25-18, 16-14) on Bross Court.
