The Master’s University volleyball team beat the San Diego Christian Hawks in three sets (25-17, 25-12, 25-23) Saturday night in El Cajon.
With the win, TMU’s record improved to 18-9 and 10-2 in Golden State Athletic Conference play. The Hawk’s record moved to 11-14 (3-9 GSAC).
Kayla Sims (Anchorage, AK) continued her standout sophomore campaign Saturday night by leading all competitors with 31 assists and 13 digs. Offensively, Aubrey Pyburn (Sun Valley, CA) led TMU with nine kills. Maryah Richberg (Santa Clarita, CA) led the Lady Mustangs with seven blocks.
As a team, TMU tallied 48 digs, 37 kills, 34 assists, 11 total team blocks and a .230 attack percentage.
“That was one of the best all-around games I have seen our ladies play since the beginning of the season,” commented TMU head coach Allan Vince. “We executed defensively at the net with great vision, and our hitters hit with precision. I was very pleased with their game time mentality.”
Now, TMU faces a pair of crucial GSAC matches. On Tuesday, the Lady Mustangs will host Vanguard at 7:00 p.m. Next Saturday, TMU will battle No. 19 Biola.
