Much has happened in the two years since Brandon Watson first visited Master’s and expressed interest in swimming for the Mustangs.

TMU qualified four relays and two individuals for NAIA nationals in 2019, its first season, and has already added to a strong core of athletes with a flurry of signings.

Now, Watson will be a crucial part of it.

“Brandon was the first recruit I visited with on campus a couple of years back who informed me of his desire to swim for Master’s,” TMU Director of Aquatics Gabe Woodward said of the Atlanta, Georgia, product. “It is without question that we are excited to welcome him to the team and know that he will make an immediate impact on the program with his attitude, work ethic, and times.”

Watson, primarily a participant in the 400-yard individual medley, is expected to bolster the Mustangs in the mid-distance events. He said his primary goal at Master’s is to bring glory to Jesus. He said hopes to do so by swimming on the sport’s biggest stages.

“Olympic Trials have been a lifelong goal for me,” he said. “The Olympics would also be a dream of mine beyond even that.”

Watson said he chose Master’s because he knew God was calling him here two years ago when he visited the school’s Newhall campus.

“The thing I’m most looking forward to is the fellowship with other strong believers and the cafeteria food,” he said.

The Mustangs, who primarily train at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center (pictured below), compete in the Pacific Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference, which features Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount, among others.

Master’s has published a more robust schedule for 2019-2020 than last season.

The Mustangs open the year on Oct. 4 at the Pacific Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference Relay Invite in La Mirada, California.
