Tick Canyon might not sound like a place you’d want to take your dog, but once you get past the fact that it’s just a name, your pooch could be on its way to stardom.
The rural locale in eastern Canyon Country is where TV host Brandon McMillan and his cousin Ashlee McMillan-Fitch have opened a new dog boarding and training facility. Their new business offers comprehensive training packages for obedience, puppy manners, tricks and yes, film and television work.

“Dog owners are sick and tired of ineffective training programs and unsanitary boarding conditions,” McMillan says. “The goal here at LA Dog Retreat is to provide an organic approach to dog boarding and training, where dogs are free to roam in a natural environment and enjoy their surroundings.”
As the host of Animal Planet’s “Night,” McMillan traveled the globe to study and film the world’s most elusive nocturnal creatures. He says he has found “just as much pleasure working with people to strengthen the bond between dog and owner.”

The owners bill LA Dog Retreat as the culmination of more than 30 years of experience in animal training and a special place where dogs can stay, learn and thrive.
It features more than 4,500 square feet of “cage-free” space for canines as well as a climate-controlled “doggie suite” with 24/7 indoor-outdoor access for guests.
