[KHTS] – The Hart boys basketball team beat St. Francis, 63-54. Lewis Stallworth led the Indians with 22 points and five assists.
Andrew MacArthur added 12 points for Hart. The Indians are 8-1 after their first nine games.
Hart begins play in their own tournament on Thursday. Undefeated Village Christian and an 8-1 Highland team are in the tournament.
The Canyon boys basketball team beat Santa Clara, 63-24, in the Ventura Tournament. Four Canyon players scored in double figures. Marc Cabrera led the way with 19.
Canyon plays Rio Mesa in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
The College of the Canyons men’s basketball team lost two games in the Bill Brummel Classic at Saddleback College.
The Cougars lost the first game, 70-49, against host Saddleback. They lost the second game, 78-70, against Long Beach City College. The Cougars are 4-6 after their first 10 games.
The COC men begin play in the Cougar Holiday Classic against Palomar on Friday.
The COC women’s basketball team will look to snap a four-game losing streak this weekend at the Lady Jaguar Invitational in San Jose.
The Lady Cougars are 5-7 after 12 games. They are coming off a 71-67 loss to Southwestern in the Orange Coast Christmas Classic.
The COC women open against San Jose City College in the Lady Jaguar Invitational on Friday night.
In the NBA, the Lakers lost to the Phoenix Suns, 117-90, and dropped two games under .500. The Lakers have lost two games in a row and their next match-up isn’t very promising. The Lakers play the reigning NBA champions, the Miami Heat, on Christmas Day.
In the NHL, the Kings lost to the visiting Dallas Star, 5-2. Kings goaltender Martin Jones had his eight-game winning streak snapped. The Kings had their three-game winning streak snapped.
The Kings start a four-game road trip on Saturday against the Nashville Predators.
