Are you part of a band, jazz group, dance group, or singing group? Looking to perform at a venue for 100 to 300 people? Once again, the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival is extending an open invitation to local performing arts groups to join the SummerFest at Rivendale this July and August.

The LA SummerFest summer cultural festival and includes Shakespeare, concerts under the stars, musical theatre, and special events. The LA SummerFest is hosted by the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival and presented annually at the Rivendale site in Towsley Canyon.

“It was a wonderful, eclectic summer last year” says David Stears, Executive Director for the Shakespeare Festival, and Producer of the LA SummerFest. “This summer we are looking some exciting possibilities: Latin music and dance, an evening of praise rock and music, a blues evening, musical theatre, and some classic opera – all in the wonderful setting at Rivendale.”

Last year’s SummerFest includes performances by The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival, performance of Hair by theTRIBEproductions, SCV Concert Band, and SpareTime Jazz. Other possibilities in the works for this summer include a series of children’s programming.

The stage, lighting, and sound are all provided as part of the event. The festival opens July 12 and run through August 10. Performance groups interested in being part of the 2014 festival are asked to contact David Stears at the Shakespeare Festival, davidstears@scshakespearefest.org.
