Every month, thousands of residents head over to Old Town Newhall to see Main Street come to life with free themed events and activities for Thursdays @ Newhall.  On Thursday, April 3, 2014 the series continues with the second Art SLAM event of the season, which will feature a unique theme inspired by the creamy flavors of cheese.

After several months in the making, the upcoming Art SLAM event is finally aged to perfection and guaranteed to thrill cheesemongers of all ages.  From slabs of savory stark-white wonderment to wheels of sharp yellow delicacies, attendees will experience a plethora of culinary masterminds offering cooking demonstrations, free tastings, and wine and cheese pairings that will tantalize anyone’s taste buds.

An event about cheese is just too good to pass up, so local eateries will stop by to serve up their signature sweet and tangy cheese treats. On the menu is Salt Creek Grille’s creamy Havarti cheese with whiskey caramel sauce, Kokolita’s cheesecake cupcakes made with mascarpone and cream cheese, the infamous Drunken Baked Mac and Cheese from Newhall Refinery, plus cream cheese pastries from Baker’s Gourmet and savory slices from Vincenzo’s Pizza.  The Grilled Cheese Food Truck will also be on hand with a variety of mouthwatering sandwiches available for purchase, made from the finest ingredients and local produce.

The cheese-themed Art SLAM will feature naturally-made art installations and exhibits created from cheesy goodness, including a Cheese Sculpture created from a block of cheddar cheese, a giant Swiss cheese sculpture, and a relief sculpture portrait created live by featured artist Lorelle Miller.

Hosted every first Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Art SLAM is a free outdoor art happening that features local and regional visual artists, performers, and much more.  The event is part of the City’s Thursdays @ Newhall series, which continues in April with the second installments of the interactive musical movements JAM Sessions, and Santa Clarita’s favorite block party, SENSES.  Each event will feature enticing, new themes for evenings filled with entertainment, shopping, great food and atmosphere.
