Officers from the Department of Animal Care and Control will be conducting field licensing enforcement in the unincorporated areas of Valencia (zip code 91354), Saugus (zip code 91350 and 91390) and Canyon Country (zip code 91351 and 91387) beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 20.
Field enforcement efforts are designed to ensure that residents’ dogs and cats are in compliance with licensing requirements and the mandatory spay/neuter and microchip ordinance. California State law requires that all dogs over the age of four months be vaccinated against rabies and be licensed.
In addition to dogs, the County of Los Angeles requires that all cats over the age of four months be vaccinated against rabies and licensed. Beginning January 1, 2014, puppies may be vaccinated at three months old, but still are not required to be vaccinated until four months of age. Securing a dog or cat license is essential to assisting animal control agencies if a pet becomes lost.
Pet owners are advised to be in compliance with licensing and the mandatory spay/neuter and microchip ordinance if they reside in any unincorporated area of Los Angeles County (or contract city that has adopted the County’s ordinance). Residents not in compliance will be subject to license fees and delinquency charges, including a $40 field enforcement fee to offset the cost of the Department’s field services. In order to avoid penalties, be sure your pet is licensed.
You can secure a new animal license by printing the application online at www.animalcare.lacounty.gov, or by visiting your local Los Angeles County animal care center. Owners of pets whose license is not delinquent can simply renew theirs at our website: www.animalcare.lacounty.gov .
DACC offers low-cost vaccination/microchips clinics (microchips are now $15, which includes an AVID registration) and low-cost assistance (for individuals who qualify) for spay and neuter surgeries. Please visit our website or stop by your local Los Angeles County animal care center for more information about these services.

No idea… I’m wondering the same thing. The last group that came around were not animal control officers. It was some outside party. They came to my door multiple times because I was not home when they came. I even called the number they left and they still came.
If your license is current there is nothing to worry about. They knock on peoples doors (in my case they trespassed to do so) looking for unlicensed dogs.
Why would they knock on my door? If you check my address, my dogs have current licensees. I remember they did this a few months back. The person came like four times because I wasn’t home.

The fine is incredibly excessive. When they tack on all the extraneous “fees” it is around $500 per violation. It’s insane.

Its only expensive if you own an unaltered animal. They do this because it helps keep the overpopulation down. If you are a responsible animal owner you have nothing to fear. Go to your local shelter and witness for yourself the devastating numbers of animals put to sleep just because of people who don’t spay/neuter their animals and you will gladly spay/neuter your animals and pay the about $20 fee for an altered animal. People in this area generally have money, dont be cheap. Save a few lives.

Don’t worry my dog isn’t documented neither…did I mention his a chiwawa . nothing hateful about that.
By the way I don’t hire anyone to upgrade my home. Simple can’t afford nor do I have gardner or house cleaner just can’t afford so and don’t trust people at all.
