Business owners, general managers, HR managers and accountants in Santa Clarita are encouraged to register for one of two free Santa Clarita Valley Enterprise Zone seminars being hosted this Wednesday, Sept. 17. The Enterprise Zone program officially ended in 2013, but there is still time for local businesses to claim tax credits through December.
The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation, City of Santa Clarita and County of Los Angeles are hosting the seminars to share information about how business owners can earn tax credits of up to $37,000 for employees hired through December 2013.
Space is still available for the breakfast seminar, which will take place from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., and for the lunch seminar, which will take place from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Both seminars will be hosted at the College of the Canyons University Center on the first floor in room 107. Anyone interested in attending either the breakfast or lunch seminar should RSVP by email to scvedc@scvedc.org or call (661) 288-4400.
Since its inception in 1984, the Enterprise Zone program has provided hiring credits and tax breaks in economically distressed areas of the state to encourage business investment and promote the creation of new jobs. Santa Clarita was awarded an Enterprise Zone in 2007 and since then it has saved businesses more than $479 million in taxes and led to hiring of thousands of local employees.
