U.S. News & World Report has once again listed Hart High School as one of the nation’s best public high schools. The Newhall school is ranked 1,044 in the nation in this year’s ranking by the magazine, considered the most reputable listing in the country.
The ranking puts Hart in the top five percent of the nation. The listing also notes how the high school ranks 204th in the State of California, has 51% of its student body taking at least one AP class, and has a college readiness index of 38.6.
The magazine’s annual rankings look at over 21,000 high schools across the country to determine their list. Only the top 30 percent are awarded gold, silver or bronze status, with those ranked gold and silver being ranked both nationally and within their state. In addition to Hart earning silver status, Academy of the Canyons and Opportunities for Learning earned bronze.
California was second to Maryland in the percentage of high schools earning gold or silver medals. Maryland has 30% of its schools while California has 27% on the list.
For the fourth consecutive year, The School for the Talented and Gifted in Dallas is the nation’s No. 1 public high school, according to U.S. News.
