SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — 2015 proved to be another exciting year for The Master’s College Athletic Department. Across the board, TMC’s student-athletes produced some of the most memorable moments in school history.
8) Mustang Soccer Scores Three NAIA All-Americans
Based on their performances in 2015, The Master’s College men’s and women’s soccer teams were represented by three NAIA All-Americans: Humphrey Mahowa, Scott Landon and Tara Struiksma
Mahowa duplicated his honorable mention accolade from 2014 after tying for the GSAC lead with 12 goals and finishing second in scoring with 28 points. Four of his goals were match-winners, which tied him for the conference lead with three others.
Meanwhile, Landon, an honorable mention choice, spearheaded a stingy defense that held opponents to an average of one goal per match, the best mark in the GSAC. Completing his second and final season after transferring to TMC in 2014, Landon also found time to tack on two assists.
Mahowa and Landon were major contributors on a Mustang team that finished 13-5-2 in 2015 and qualified for the GSAC Tournament. Notably, the Mustangs made numerous appearances on the NAIA Top 25 poll, a feat not accomplished since 2011.
For the first time in her collegiate career, Tara Struiksma of The Master’s College women’s soccer team earned NAIA All-American honorable mention honors.
Struiksma, a senior midfielder, received the accolade after posting 17 shots, including eight shots on goal, while scoring one time in TMC’s 19 slated matches.
The Lady Mustangs were also among the NAIA’s Top 25 ranked teams during the season.
