Allan Trautman

At this month’s ARTree Speaker Series, see a master puppeteer, actor, and improviser, with credits that include “The Muppets” and the new live-action version of “The Jungle Book,” share his techniques and thoughts on puppeteering.

The talk, called “No Strings Attached,” will be on Thursday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Old Town Newhall Library.

When Allan Trautman is being an actor or improviser, you see him. When he’s a puppeteer or director, you don’t. At this month’s ARTree Speaker Series, we get to watch him do it all.

Trautman will talk about the evolution of hand puppetry from stage to computer, and will also show us some of the techniques and challenges that go into creating and performing with complex characters made from wood, fur, and pixels.

Trautman is an Emmy-nominated performer and the lead puppeteer and instructor for The Jim Henson Company. His film and TV credits include Muppets from Space, Babe, The Country Bears, Dr. Dolittle, and the new live-action,The Jungle Book.
