The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation kicks off its public summer swim season beginning Saturday, June 3, 2017, with the opening of nine swimming pools for free recreational swimming.

Sixteen more pools will open on Saturday, June 10; two additional pools will open on Saturday, June 17; and one pool opens on July 5. The start of the 10-week recreational summer swimming season, which coincides with the various beginnings of summer vacations at school districts throughout the county, will be open to the public free of charge. All county pools will also be offering free or low-cost youth and adult swim lessons. Scholarships for the 10-lesson program for low-income households are available, and applications can be obtained at the pools.

To reserve a swimming lesson spot, interested patrons should visit http://reservations.lacounty.gov/registrations/programs.asp.

Val Verde Community Regional Park – 30300 W. Arlington Road, Val Verde
Castaic Regional Sports Complex – 31320 N. Castaic Road, Castaic
Knollwood Pool – 12040 Balboa Blvd., Granada Hills
San Fernando Regional Pool – 300 Park Ave., San Fernando

“We encourage the public to take advantage of our free countywide recreational swimming programs at our county pools,” said John Wicker, director of the Department of Parks and Recreation. “It’s a great way for the whole family to cool off during hot summer days, and also an opportunity for people of all ages to learn how to swim through our free or low-cost lessons.”
