As America commemorates 241 years of independence, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Captain Robert Lewis encourages everyone in the community to enjoy the Fourth of July holiday responsibly with respect for all.
Celebrating our nation’s freedom does not justify breaking the law.
“We are taking enforcement very seriously and will be monitoring hot spots known to have a history of illegal fireworks use,” Captain Lewis said.
On the Fourth of July, deputies from the SCV Sheriff’s Station will be specifically tasked to proactively patrol the community and cite any individuals using or displaying illegal fireworks.
Violators can receive a fine up to $1,000 and/or face a misdemeanor prosecution.
Do not let a costly citation ruin your holiday.
As a reminder:
- Fireworks of any kind are not allowed in Santa Clarita Valley.
- Heard-only illegal fireworks are also a nuisance and we will be proactively looking for violations.
Please reserve 9-1-1 for public safety emergencies. Our non-emergency line is (661) 255-1121.
The SCV Sheriff’s Station wants everyone to have a safe and enjoyable holiday. On the Fourth of July, there will be public fireworks shows in our community conducted by trained professionals. Celebrate responsibly at one of these shows:
- City of Santa Clarita – Valencia Town Center Mall at 9:15 p.m.
- Six Flags Magic Mountain -26101 Magic Mountain Pkwy at 9 p.m.
- Stevenson Ranch – Dr. Richard Rioux Memorial Park, 24233 Faulker Drive at 9 p.m.

Sit on walnut st. In Newhall after 10, you’ll see fireworks all over newhall set off in the middle of the street that put magic mountain to shame. Happens every year. I have to turn my car alarm off so it doesn’t go off every 3 minutes. I’m all for fun and games, but please patrol newhall! Someone’s going to get hurt playing with these mortars. :(
PS: Hug your dogs and cats! Some of them get scared <3
HAPPY AND SAFE 4th EVERYBODY! :D
