The Canyon Theatre Guild is presenting a family show suitable for all ages opening January 28 and playing through February.
“A Little Princess” is the delightful story of Sara Crewe, an intelligent, polite and creative young girl whose life is dramatically changed from that of a wealthy young woman to pauper in the blink of an eye.
Sara’s father, a wealthy soldier in India, travels with his young daughter all the way to London where he arranges for Sarah to live and be educated at Miss Minchin’s School.
The school’s headmistress is a haughty, disdainful woman who runs the upscale boarding school with an iron fist. Young Sara is treated like a Princess because Miss Minchin is eager to please Sara’s wealthy father. However, when Sara receives the news that her father has died bankrupt, Sara’s life suddenly changes.
Left impoverished, Sara is at the mercy of the jealous Miss Minchin and is subjected to living in as a servant or being tossed on to the streets. With the help of several dear friends, Sara remains as proud and unwavering and imaginative as ever, proving to all that anyone can be “A Little Princess”.
“A Little Princess” is under the direction of Randy Aronson, and the cast features Fiona Perry as Sara Crewe, Alianna Medlen as Becky, the scullery maid, Justine Kelly as Lavinia, the “mean girl” of the school and Mackenzie Betteridge as Lottie, the youngest of the girls at the school. Miss Minchin is played by Carol Rock, and her sister, Amelia is Allie Monheim.
Other students in the school will be played by Jillian Kelly and Kaitlyn Reuben. Also in the cast are Andi Rhodes, Jenna Bushton, Mia Zumsteg , Wade Bradford, Jim Robinson,Michael Davies John Medlan, Riley Flynn, Gracie Flynn and Casey Hart.
