Mike Day
Valencia High graduate Mike Day is one of 10 riders selected to race in the first two rounds of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Chula Vista and Norway and earn a spot on the United States BMX team that will compete in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Day won a silver medal in the first BMX Olympic event in the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing. He was one of five men chosen to race in the BMX Supercross World Cup that begins March 30 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista.
The second round of the World Cup will be at Randaberg, Norway, starting April 13.
The United States is third in the nation rankings in the BMX Supercross World Cup. If the U.S. remains in third place, the top-three men and two women will earn spots on the 2012 United States BMX Olympic teams.
Day is a discretionary pick by USA Cycling to compete in the BMX Supercross World Cup events. The other riders are Nic Long of Lakeside, David Herman of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Connor Fields of Henderson, Nev., and Corben Sharrah of Tucson, Ariz.
Five women were selected by USA Cycling to compete in the BMX Supercross World Cup as well.
The 2012 Olympic Games in London are in August.

The sad thing is ..in his hometown of Santa Clarita, they don’t even have a BMX track . BMX is an Olympic sport and the 2008 Silver medal winner MIke Day lives here.

That is why Mike is at Sycamore BMX in Simi Valley, Ca to coach and inspire young kids and riders. Mike Day is one of the greatest young men in the sport and his hometown should support any effort to put a track in the City of Santa Clarita. Wake up Awesome Town!!!!! Not
They did have a BMX track when he was growing up it was right down the street from his place too. It did get shut down but there was a BMX track in town just as many other things not enough customers come in and things will eventually close down.
