The walls of the First Floor Gallery at City Hall now include more than 40 works of art by students of College of the Canyons’ Graphic and Multimedia Design Program. The new exhibit titled “Visit Santa Clarita, Illustrated Travel Posters” was installed this week and will be on display through November 16, 2012 at City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard.
The community is invited to enjoy this exhibit and attend a free reception in recognition of participating artists at City Hall on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
Students of the College of the Canyons’ Graphic and Multimedia Design Program created a series of 2D Computer Illustrations, or travel posters, promoting activities, entertainment and special events specific to Santa Clarita and the immediate area. All featured artwork was created using computer illustration software and includes a variety of techniques, including: watercolor, pastel, and oil painting in a variety of styles from vintage and modern to contemporary.
“Santa Clarita is home to many talented artists including students at College of the Canyons,” said Mayor Frank Ferry. “This exhibit not only showcases the work of up and coming artists, but the many reasons why our City is one of the top places to visit in Southern California.”
The Visit Santa Clarita exhibit is part of the City’s Common Spaces: Art in Public Places program, which provides enriching art experiences through public art galleries in a variety of public spaces.
