It’s the weekend before Halloween, and local rockers are getting on their ghoul.
Saturday night, the Vu Bar and Lounge in Newhall will throw a funk-disco-rock ’n’ roll Retro Halloween bash. The party starts at 9 p.m. with deejays mixing it up. Then Dr. Funkenstein and his band will get freaky live onstage. Costumes are a must – the theme is anything from the ’70s. Admission is free until 10. For more info or to reserve a table, call the Vu at 661-255-7833.
SCVTV “House Blend” favorites PapaFish will headline a special Halloween-themed show Saturday night at the Viper Room on the Sunset Strip. The band takes the stage at 10 p.m. and the lineup also includes LVLS, MADUS and Sonic Reducer. Tickets are just $8 in advance or $12 at the door. Visit the “PapaFish Halloween Show” Facebook event page for more details and directions.
Sunday afternoon at 2, the latest young rockers attending the GigMasterz rock school at Keyboard Galleria come out to play a live gig at Route 66 bar and grill on Soledad in Canyon Country. GigMasterz master instructor David Lemasters will introduce four new bands coming out of the program. It’s free for all comers and the food and drink at Route 66 always rocks. Check the “GigMasterz 2014 Rock School” Facebook page for details.
And speaking of “House Blend,” be sure to catch legendary bluegrass quartet Loafers’ Glory featuring Herb Pedersen, right here on SCVTV Saturday night at 10.
