If you’re not yet in the holiday spirit, the College of the Canyons Studio Jazz Ensemble and the Lab Band will get you there Friday night at the Performing Arts Center. Director K.C. Manji and the bands will play a mix of traditional holiday tunes performed in a variety of styles, from swing to bossa nova to rock. Katherine Lench-Meyering returns as guest vocalist. And Saturday night, COC’s Symphony of the Canyons, along with the Santa Clarita Youth Orchestra Foundation’s Orchestra and Prelude Strings, take the big stage at the PAC. The SCV’s most talented young musicians have an evening of Baroque classics to play in this family-friendly show. Showtime is 7:30 p.m., and you can also get tickets for the Youth Orchestra concert from the box office at 661-362-5304.
Late Saturday night on SCVTV’s “House Blend,” singer-songwriter-producer Gary McGrath and guitar partner Shawn Iaeger are my special guests. They serve up exclusive unplugged versions of four songs by The McGrath Project band. A couple of the tunes are new and will be world premieres. So don’t miss Gary and Shawn on “House Blend” at 10 p.m. on SCVTV and streaming on SCVTV.com.
